About the event

Mastering 'Plaire' and 'Manquer': A Deep Dive into Two Tricky French Verbs Hello French learners and welcome to my weekly intermediate level workshop online! Every week for 2 hours we learn and practice a specific aspect of French language to deepen your knowledge and enhance your speaking skills. You can attend any workshop without having to come every week, but please make sure to check the required previous knowledge for each workshop. This week’s workshop is designed for intermediate French learners who want to improve their understanding and usage of the verbs 'plaire' (to like) and 'manquer' (to miss). These verbs often pose challenges due to their unique constructions. Workshop contents
  1. Specific structure and use of the verbs plaire and manquer.
  2. Their conjugation in the present tense
  3. Their use with nouns and pronouns
  4. Their use with the negation
  5. Vocabulary about people and relationships, gifts, food, drinks and places
Previous knowledge required (necessary)
  • Subject pronouns (je, tu , il, elle, on, nous, vous, ils, elles)
  • Present conjugation of verbs ending in -er
  • Negation with ne… pas
  • Yes/No questions with est-ce que
  • Basic general vocabulary
Previous knowledge (recommended)
  • Indirect Object Pronouns (me, te, lui, nous, vous, leur)
  • Possessive determiners (mon, ton, son, ma, ta, sa, mes, tes, ses, notre, votre, leur, nos, vos, leurs)

By the end of this workshop, participants will have a solid grasp of how to use 'plaire' and 'manquer' correctly in various contexts, enhancing their French language skills and confidence in expression.
